How Base Work Speed Works

A base worker’s throughput is determined by the work suitability rank table rather than character level. Each rank corresponds directly to an assigned work amount per second. Passives and lab research add together into a single modifier, whereas food buffs, hunger states, Pal Soul upgrades, monitoring modes, and camp structures multiply against that total.

Camp structures that boost work suitability provide a 20% bonus, but only one such building counts per work suitability because its effect limit is 1. Constructing a second structure of the same type does not increase work speed. The all-work structure applies an additional 10% bonus across every suitability.

The Work Speed value on a Pal’s status screen is used only for jobs open to anyone (the All work suitability). Stations that need a work suitability use the rank table above instead.

On converter stations such as furnaces and workbenches, the structure’s internal speed rating divides the required work of the selected recipe before workers apply progress. Station work speed reduces the total work threshold rather than accelerating worker animation speeds.

Condenser rank upgrades grant bonus work suitability levels based on priority order. The first star raises the highest suitability, the second star raises the second-highest distinct rank, the third star elevates the third-highest, and the fourth star increases every work suitability by 1 up to a ceiling of 10.

The base planner shows each worker’s effective rank and work per second from these rules. Default settings assume a fed, healthy Pal, Normal Work and a world work speed rate of 1.

Unmodelled Base Mechanics

Power generators and ranches run on other code paths in the game, so the planner does not show their output.

Walking and carrying time between stations and chests, sleep and sickness are not modelled: the planner shows station work only.
