Passive trait inheritance odds
Inheritance mechanics
Offspring inherit 1 to 4 passives from the parents' pooled distinct traits with respective probabilities of 40%, 30%, 20%, and 10%. If fewer than 4 passives are inherited, random traits may fill the remaining slots with the same 40/30/20/10% distribution over 0 to 3 extra slots.
To maximize the chance of breeding an exact target setup, ensure parents carry only desired traits. Any unwanted passive expands the parent pool and reduces the odds of selecting the target combination.
— Breeding mechanics
Each Pal species possesses a specific breeding power. When two Pals are paired, the game evaluates the game's table of special pairs first. If no unique combination matches, the target rank is calculated as the average breeding power rounded up: ceil((ParentA + ParentB) / 2). The child species is then chosen from the eligible breeding pool as the Pal with the closest breeding power, breaking ties by selecting the higher power rank.
Identical parent pairings (X + X) do not use a universal fallback rule: an X + X pairing yields X only if that species exists in the standard breeding pool or has an explicit unique combination row. Panthalus and Astralym are excluded from the pool without unique entries, so pairing two Panthalus or two Astralym produces Aegidron.
Offspring passives are determined in two stages: first, the game rolls an inheritance count of 1 to 4 traits (weighted 40%, 30%, 20%, and 10%) drawn without replacement from the distinct passives of both parents. If fewer than 4 traits are inherited, a second roll determines how many random passives (0 to 3 traits, weighted 40%, 30%, 20%, and 10%) are added from the global random pool, up to a total of 4 passives.
Offspring gender is determined by the species innate male probability. Gender distribution governs gender-locked pairings: Katress (male) paired with Wixen (female) yields Wixen Noct, while Katress (female) paired with Wixen (male) yields Katress Ignis.
— Unique breeding combinations
Pairs from the game's unique table that override breeding power averaging.
— Breeding power rankings
Rank values used when no unique override matches: child target = ceil((parentA + parentB) / 2).
